Walleska Ecochicc Wins The Eco Choice Award For Most Innovative Product

Elm 09 Petal Clutch Recognized by SustainAbilty:Design for a Better World®

Dallas, Texas February 2, 2012- Walleska Ecochicc today announced that it has won the Eco Choice Award for Most Innovative Product. The Most Innovative Product is awarded by the New York International Gift Fair and GREENRetailer magazine in recognition of a “green” product.

The SustainAbility:Design for a Better World® display at the New York International Gift Fair showcased the ELM 09 Petal Clutch along with hundreds of other “green” products. Retailers walking the show, could vote on the products in three categories- Most Innovative Product, Most Sensitive Use of Materials and Most Sellable. The products displayed had to meet certain criteria, “ Environmentally-friendly Production Processes and also have socially-responsible business practices” explained by Ilene Shaw of Shaw + Co! Productions, one of the Advisors of the SustainAbility display.

Walleska Ecochicc creates upscale, sustainable products, calling the brand Ecochicc has its obvious implications, but as an acronym for the larger mission of the brand, the dynamic founder and co-designer insists that the realized products are only one aspect of an Ecologically Conscious  Organization Celebrating, Honoring, and Inspiring Creative Communities

“Growing up in Brazil, recycling was a way of life, ” Tepping explains. “A country so rich in natural resources and so limited in financial opportunity meant being very resourceful. As an art teacher, my mother’s motto was ‘Nothing wasted--always transformed.’” With this in mind, the designer has remained close to the culture that first planted her creative seed. Because of the popularity and quality of her unique products, Tepping has been able to provide jobs through the principles of fair trade to several communities of Brazilian women and a few independent artists in the US.
